Soldier Boy

Bombs rain down from a hidden sky
Mortars flying over a blanket of vast terrain
The people are running to find a safe cocoon
NOTHING! Nowhere to hide
Shamal winds shower this desert land
Forecast over Al Jazeerer radio waves
The enemy lines are encroaching on our soldiers to kill, but, the parade of
Elitist service personnel are equipped by far to shoot em dead
Limbs, blood and gore are spread like strawberry jam – the toast is quietly taking its last breath
Silence now – their corpses still
Smell of fear lingers in the air
Army vehicles convoy back to base
Head count in – all safely home
Just doing their job for Queen and Country
Job done!
I see in his eyes he’s brave and proud
A gentle soldier with the love of mankind
Just doing his job
Of the worst kind…
